Swollen sclera... and Jinger's new man wants to save gays and Catholics...

Yesterday, something weird happened to me.  I was dozing on our upstairs futon when I decided I'd rather lie down and read a book.  While I was reading, my right eye got very itchy.  I rubbed it and kept reading for awhile.  Then the eye started to hurt and felt odd.  So I got up and checked the mirror and noticed the lower outside corner of my right eye was all swollen.  It looked like a big blister.

That had never happened to me before, so I went Googling and found out that it's not all that uncommon for the white of your eye to suddenly swell up, especially if you wear contact lenses.  I do wear contacts, but have been fortunate enough never to have a serious eye infection.

I didn't take any pictures of my swollen sclera, but I did run across this lady's blog post.  She took a picture of her eye.  Mine looked similar, except it was on the other side of the eye.  It was pretty gross and uncomfortable.  I put a warm washcloth across the eye, took Benadryl, and fell asleep for awhile.  That seemed to help the swelling go down.

I woke up this morning with a pink looking sclera and some gunk at the corners.  I cleaned it off and relaxed for about an hour.  I managed to put my lenses in this morning, but the air is full of allergens. I might need some more Benadryl and a nap.  We don't need more rain, but maybe that would wash some of the gunk out of the air.  I'm only writing about this because I know people love to Google odd things that happen to them.  My guess is that a bunch of people will find this blog because I wrote about my eye looking like it had a blister, the same way they look up dog hair splinters and random brown earwax falling out of their ears.  People are intrinsically gross.

Moving on, I read a bit more about Jinger Duggar's new boyfriend.  It seems he is no longer a pro soccer player.  He's given that life up for one in the ministry.  He is apparently a pastor at a church in Laredo, Texas where Catholics and gays get "saved".

I don't know about you, but my interactions with Catholics have mainly been pleasing.  Granted, the Catholic church has its problems.  However, I have found them to be genuinely charitable toward other people.  I seem to attract Catholics, actually.  There's something about my personality that draws them in (Bill was Catholic before he was Mormon).

As for gays, I've known quite a few.  They are regular people like anyone else.  Some of my gay friends are truly special people.  I have gay friends who are extremely kind and empathetic.  Some are enormously talented and intelligent.  They don't need "saving" from some ignoramus fundie.

Anyhoo, it should be interesting to see where this relationship goes.  I'd hope Jinger would find her way out of fundamentalist Christianity, but it sounds like this new guy she's seeing isn't going to take her there.

Jinger's new man used to drink and party and even spent a night in jail.  He also confesses to once being "addicted to fame", which tells me that this relationship was calculated and will likely be disastrous.  Jeremy sounds like he could have issues with narcissism.  But he's given up the party life for "clean livin'", I guess.  And, of course, being lord and master of his own Duggar girl.  Eew.

Maybe later, if I can stomach it, I'll come back and write about the treasure trove of kiddie porn found in Michael Jackson's house.  It's always sad to see behind the curtain, isn't it?

  1. I'm really curious about the kiddie porn stash found at Michael Jackson's house.
